What I’m about to write is not my experience but a story that two good friends of mine experienced. They wanted me to write this so that it may help other people. Read on and find out how it might help you.
These friends of mine were a couple. Every now and then, they took the time to book their absence from work so they could enjoy some time together without having to them about work. For the reason that they always wanted a relaxing and quiet place, they usually go to Tagaytay. This couple, mind you, are not only workaholics but also big bosses when it comes to handling money. Well, they also like to tread on the adventure of traveling in different ways.
They decided to book at Fernandina Tagaytay Villa. This hotel is at #2 Hollywood Subdivision, Barangay Tolentino East, Tagaytay. What they paid was not that expensive. Let’s just say it fits a light budget. When they arrived at the hotel, they were slightly taken aback by the difference in the real deal from their expectations. They were ushered by a kind ‘manong’ into their rooms. When they got inside the room, they laughed.
The room was not as clean as they expected. Some minutes later of checking through the room, they found there were insects. So they decided to see for the rest of the villa. They realized there was a small garden with a few chairs and also a small gym with only one equipment. They were lucky enough not to book rooms 1-4 as this was detached from the house-cum-hotel. Rooms 1-4 looked quite shabby and wasn’t exactly that pleasing if you knew you had to stay in some cramped up room.
My friends did not have a very good review for the place but since nothing is ever just bad, they said that the only consolation was the view of Taal was really nice and it was also accessible to other destinations like the People’s Park in the Sky, Picnic Grove and the Flower Farm. In the end they also realized that they didn’t actually pay that much for the place but as quoted by my friend “they had at least the obligation to offer something decent enough knowing their room rates were from P2,500 – P12,000”. They really just laughed it off.
I rest my opinion in what they said. I mean, I know they didn’t really pay that much but as a public establishment housing guests, the hotel could have at least done something better. Anyway, the next time you think about cheap places to stay when traveling, always do research.
